  • Transplanted Manners: A Novel

    Elizabeth E. Evans

Hardcover (Forgotten Books, Jan. 30, 2018)
Excerpt from Transplanted Manners: A NovelCombining the advantages of the city with the quiet of the country.Truer description of the favourable situation of Pension Irgendwo than newspaper advertisements are apt to give of hotels and boarding-houses. Pension sounds more romantic than Boarding-house, and this specimen certainly deserves a romantic name. It was like a story, coming in, as I did this afternoon, just at the hour when the people were taking their afternoon coh'ee.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Christopher and Columbus

    Elizabeth Elizabeth

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Jan. 25, 2018)
Excerpt from Christopher and ColumbusThe gulls, circling white against the gloomy sky over the rubbish that floated on the Mersey, made them feel extraordinarily forlorn. Empty boxes, bits of straw, orange-peel, a variety of dismal dirtiness lay about on the sullen water; England was slipping away, England, their mother's country, the country of their dreams ever since they could remember - and the St. Luke with a loud screech had suddenly stopped.Neither of them could help jumping a little at that and getting an inch closer together beneath the rug. Surely it wasn't a submarine already?About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Come and Find Me

    Elizabeth Robins

Paperback (Forgotten Books, March 11, 2018)
Excerpt from Come and Find MeSo that, however reminiscent of people or conditions long since passed away, however much of the spirit of the past is garnered here as living influence, or as debris and as ashes, these were for me infinitesimal affairs by comparison with the hope for the Future that made me turn deaf ears to your admonishing. For this was to be a place where my fellow dreamer and I should not only rest, but having rested, work as never before. Our best and biggest room was to be called the Workroo'm.But some strange spell has hitherto hung over that apart ment and all the house, since even the white remodelers of the slave-built dwelling have found it easier to play than work here.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
